Action plan

--> Our group has not worked to our best of capabilites, but we are determined to make the most of our time left.

--> We started filimg a while ago, and have got around half to most of our scenes filmed.

-->We need to film a few more scenes and maybe add some more random funny scenes into the mix, althtough we will begin editing from this week onwards.
our blog has not been updated as much as other blogs there i will post any late blogs with the data as the title, to indicate which date they were ment for.

--> We will continue filming, and although some of our cast have dropped out, we will improvise and do our best to continue.

--> As we are making a comedy trailer, the editing will be very important, as commentary and background music is key as well as on screen text and sound effects. which take some preasure of the filmiing.

--> We will film over the weekednd an throughout next week, our deadline is to have filming finshed by wednesday.

Also i will film the next time it rains, as its an important element for my scene.

Music

- Music;
we will research and try to find British artist or recorded songs that fit in with our scenes. if we cannot do this, then here are some song choices that we have found;
Wheatus – teenage dirtbag (41 secs onwards)
Black eyed Peas – I got a feeling 30 secs
Barry White – I’m gonna love you just a lil bit more baby.

Possible intro music..
Fat joe - lean back..
Mims - this is why im hot..
50 cent - in the club / jus a lil bit

commentry

- Commentary which will be recorded after all scenes are filmed and edited. Commentary will introduce characters and storyline with possible sarcasm and humour in tone of voice and expressions or words used. Commentary would be effectively used in and out of dialogues from scenes.
we would have to record this a few times, as we would need it to go well with the non digetic sound in the form of the songs that we would include in the trailer.

New twist

idea change implemented;
Harold and Kumar has 2 main guys,
Superbad has 3 main guys,
American pie has 4/5 main guys.
If we want to stand out, we will use 6 main guys, or possibly 3 guys and 3 girls, which will make our production different to those other popular films.

SONG RESEARCH

Barry White – I’m gonna love you just a lil bit more baby

Artist – Barry White (September 12, 1944 – July 4, 2003)

An American record producer and singer-songwriter. A five-time Grammy Award-winner known for his rich bass voice and romantic image, White's greatest success came in the 1970s as a solo singer and with his Love Unlimited Orchestra, crafting many enduring hit soul funk, and disco songs. Worldwide, White had many gold and platinum albums and singles, with combined sales of over 100 million.Instruments played – piano, keyboard, drums, vocals.Record labels – Uni/MCA records, 20th century records, Casablanca/ PolyGram records, A&M/ PolyGram records, Private Music/ BMG Records, Eagle Records, Mercury/ PolyGram records.Associated acts – Love unlimited. The love unlimited orchestra, Isaac Hayes, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson

SuccessIn 1972, he got his big break producing a girl group he had discovered called Love Unlimited. His best friend, music industry businessman Larry Nunes helped to finance this major start to his recording career. He made Barry his protégé, forming a production company with White and guiding him to fame. Formed in imitation of the legendary Motown girl group The Supremes, the group members had gradually honed their talents with White for two years until they signed contracts with Uni Records.

White produced, wrote and arranged the classic soul ballad, "Walking in the Rain (With The One I Love)", which climbed to #14 in the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart and #6 on the R&B chart. After the first album, White switched his production deal and the group to 20th Century Records where they recorded several other hits throughout the 1970s. These included "I Belong To You" which spent over five months on the R&B chart in 1974 including a week at #1. White married the lead singer of the group, Glodean James, on 4 July 1974.

While working on a few demos for a male singer, White was persuaded to release the songs on himself although he was initially reluctant to step out in front of the microphone. His first solo chart hit, 1973's "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby", rose to #1 R&B and #3 Pop. Then the Love Unlimited Orchestra's recording of White's composition "Love's Theme" reached #1 Pop in 1974, one of only a handful of instrumental recordings ever to do so. Some regard "Love's Theme" as the first disco hit ever, although Nino Tempo's "Sister James" had already reached the Hot 100 a few months before.

SONG- "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby" is a song written, produced and recorded by Barry White. Considering how successful it would end up being, it would probably come as a surprise that, for many years, White had little to no interest in a recording career.Released in the spring of 1973 as the first single from his 1973 debut album I've Got So Much to Give, the song was a #1 hit on the U.S. R&B chart for two weeks, peaked at number three on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and reached #23 on the UK singles chart. The single was also certified gold by the RIAA for sales of one million copies.- Genre – Disco & R&B.- Record label – 20th century Records- written and produced by Barry White.- Samples of the song have been used in numerous hip hop recordings over the years by artists such as Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Eric B & Rakim, Ghost face Killah, L.L. Cool J, N.W.A., Mos Def, and Too Short. It has appeared in the films, "Love Serenade", "High Fidelity", "Kissing Jessica Stein" and "Bringing Down the House". It was used in the season seven "Friends" episode, "The One with Ross and Monica's Cousin" and in the season one "Cold Case" episode, "The Runner". It was spoofed by Sesame Street in a musical skit with Cookie Monster (backed up by the Crumbs Unlimited Orchestra) as "Me going to Munch You Munch You Munch You".

Song Research Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling

Members

The Black Eyed Peas is made up of four members. Rapper will.i.am is the unofficial leader of the group, and provides the majority of the rap vocals. His counterparts, Apl.De.Ap and Taboo, have been with the band since their conception in 1995, and also provide rapping vocals. Fergie, the female addition to the band, joined in 2003, after a previous female vocalist, Kim Hill, departed in 2003.
Many fans and critics claim The Black Eyed Peas mainstream success is owed to Fergie, whose addition triggered Elephunk, the bands 2003 album, and launched the band as a worldwide smash success. Fergie has gone on to produce an independant album, as has will.i.am.

Albums

Behind The Front was released in 1998, was relatively successful for a new hip hop band. Bridging the Gap was released in 2000, and took another significant step towards the bands success. Compared with the more recent follow ups, however, these two early albums are virtually unknown by Black Eyed Peas fans, and emphasise the bands hip hop roots far more than their later pop albums.
Elephunk was released in 2003, and is marked as the break-through album for the Black Eyed Peas. The single Where is the Love? featuring Justin Timberlake scored the band their first number one hit in the UK and Australia, and entered the top ten in the US. This was followed up with other big singles such as Shut Up, Hey Mama and the contentiously titled Let's Get Retarded. When released as a single, the band changed the song lyrics to Let's Get It Started, winning them a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2005.
Monkey Business was released in 2005, and tread a similar path to Elephunk. Similar in design, sound and success, the band had found their recipe for incredible popularity. The album's singles include Don't Phunk With My Heart, Don't Lie and My Humps. The singles scored well internationally and earned them another two Grammys.

I Gotta Feeling debuted at number two behind the group's own Boom Boom Pow on the week of June 27, 2009, on both the Canadian and Billboard Hot 100 charts, making the group one of only eleven artists who have occupied the top two positions at the same time on the Billboard Hot 100. The song went on to replace Boom Boom Pow at Number 1 on the US charts and eventually reach Number 1 on twenty charts worldwide.I Gotta Feeling debuted at number two behind the group's own Boom Boom Pow on the week of June 27, 2009, on both the Canadian and Billboard Hot 100 charts, making the group one of only eleven artists who have occupied the top two positions at the same time on the Billboard Hot 100. I Gotta Feeling is their second official single from their fifth studio album The E.N.D. The song debuted on May 21, 2009.

Target Audience

The target audiene for our film trailer are people aged 15 to 25. The genre is mainly comedy but also with hints of romance. People like comedy because it makes them laugh. Everyone needs a good laugh every now and then. Comedy helps brings people's spirits up. It makes people happy. Comedy is found everywhere. It is found on T.V., radio, and movies. No matter where you are, comedy is there. Well with the exception of funeral homes. I really doubt that comdey makes a visit there. I have also researched about how laughter is actually good for the body too :
  • Laughter increased levels of salivary immunoglobulin A(S-IgA), a vitalimmune system protein, which is the body’s first line of defenceagainst respiratory illness.

Romantic movies are always popular for a few reasons. First, most romances have happy endings. Since movies are meant primarily to entertain, everyone likes to leave the movie theater with a happy feeling that the guy got the girl and they found something really special. A tragic romance is well-liked for an entirely different reason. People often feel that they can relate to a tragic romance; lost love, sudden death, etc. are very human. Romance Films usually relate to girls/ women. One of the most obvious reasons that girls like romances is the handsome lead man. Sometimes, in my thoery, if women don't have real romance in their own lives, a romantic movie will help them escape into a happy-ever-after world that they may have always imagined.

A combination of these two would certainly make an interesting movie because it could go either way as many people may have a different sence of humour compared to other so it may not appeal to them but we as a group have to make sure that we can get in contact with not only one persons sence of humour but research what people define as funny. We also have to do this with the romance side too.

Location

location
school for day time scenes play ground, common room, corridors. Showing the guys in their usual day environment and how they are around girls. (Need to ask for permission from school)

- Possibly in the toilets for deep or meaningfull conversations or even with a funny twist.(permision required)

- Restaurant (ginos or another) for when guys meet up and discuss plans.

- Houses for individual scenes where guys do their own thing.

- Club, bar or party for night time scenes where Guys make move on love interest.
The setting is linked to the genre as its we can create funny moments and scenes in any of these places and it would not be difficult to do so.

The setting is linked to the audience and narrative. As the target audience will easily be able to relate to the characters as they will or would have been in their shoes, they can relate to how they act in the situations in the various settings.
They can link to the narrative as most the situations would occur in an average teen’s life. And the trailer and film is for a comic purpose, therefore we can exaturate situations and show what not to do.

Inspiration Films; Harold and kumar

Harold and Kumar – plot summary
Harold Lee and Kumar Patel are two stoners who get the munchies and embark on a quest for White Castle burgers after seeing a TV commercial for the same. On their way they encounter many obstacles, including a gang of extreme sports punks, a raccoon with an attitude, a group of Asian nerds, an unlikely married couple who are Jesus freaks and sex seekers, a racist police officer, a cheetah which has escaped from a zoo, and an out-of-control Neil Patrick Harris. After watching this film and viewing its trailer on YouTube, I received many different ideas on how to construct and film my trailer. I also received ideas from the storyline on what I could use and alter to put into our trailer. The film attracts the same audience that we are appealing to as its ridiculous yet funny.

(Trailer contains commentary/narrative which introduces characters with funny, sarcastic remarks, commentary is throughout, key element as it keeps viewers interested an it is very cleverly used, with the collage of scenes that are put together. Elements of key, funny dialogue, also introduces characters In a humorous aspect by stating what film they have been supporting actors in. Could use writing that flash’s on the screen for a second or 2 along with commentary for added affect
extras; celebrity, best friends, weird character, policeman, sexy girls, nerds, bully’s,

Inspiration Films; American Pie

American pieplot summary
The film concentrates on four boys who make a pact to lose their virginity before their high school graduation. The title of the film refers to a scene in the film in which the lead character is caught masturbating with a pie after previously being told that third base feels "like warm apple pie".
This film is probably the most successful film that we can use to relate to our idea and our film trailers exact genre, with comedy as the main genre and romance as a sub genre. It has a numerous number of sequels and alternate films related to it.The film uses various elements of comedy such as dirty funny, sarcasm and uses stereo typical teenager males, which in itself can be seen as funny. The film uses clever use of comedy with elements of romance to appeal to and attract its target audience, which is similar to, if not the same as ours.I have seen the original film and its trailer, and will analyses it and look at how it is constructed to appeal to its audience, and I will look carefully at the main characters and how they are used to attract audiences.

(Beginning of trailer is very cleverly and uniquely done, introduces film as part of an award category, and then asks the question ‘WHY’ before going into the film.
Same commentary voice used as in Harold and Kumar. Introduces plot rather than characters by name. Shows awkward scenes in a funny light. As film is based on sex, it uses key words like mystery, fascination to describe the viewpoint of the main characters along with key and funny scenes. Contrasts of scenes alone, scenes with love interest, scenes with parents and scenes with friends. Ends trailer with film title, and funny scene with dialogue continuing as scene fades out.) Uses funny romantic music over scenes.
Other characters, female love interests, funny father character, seductive mother (Milf), other friend’s

Final / Chosen Idea

Out of the 3 ideas that we narrowed it down to.
We have decided to go with idea 2.
Our decision was made easier as we asked around on what people thought of our ideas and idea 2 was the most popular, i had even asked some previous media students.

Therefore our final idea is...Idea 2.
We have yet to name it..
Its Genre is mainly Comedy with elements of Romance.
The type of comedy we are going for is a goofy, immature, sarcastic, funny.

We will use a modern setting, with a list of possible locations such as our school.
Even our houses.

We will be looking at a college theme, with its basic stereotypes of teenagers and what the would get up 2.

The narrative and plot will be a basic fun, party, wild film, based on group of teenagers having fun partying, each going through their own thing in life.

Film trailer based on group, showcasing individual personalities and trying to achieve their own short term goals.

Inspiration films – here are some films that are in the same genre and are simmilar to what i am going to recreate; American pie, road trip, Harold an Kumar

Evaluation

•My evaluation on our presentation and ideas.I think we did well in coming up with ideas.
•we had to discuss our ideas before deciding to narrow down to our final 3.
•We decided our genres that we would stick with and revolve our ideas around. We had a downside of starting our production ideas late as I was new to the group. so we decided to use this to our advantage as we looked at what other groups had decided to do, so we wouldn't clash or be copying them as we wanted our idea to be fun and original. We know this would be hard as finding an original idea story line that hasn’t been used would be very difficult as most have already been done in the past. So we then looked at finding an idea that would be popular around our target audience and that we could make and add our own adjustments and alternations to.We eventually wrote our 3 ideas which are all posted on the blog.We couldn’t decide on what idea we would pick, therefore we asked around for opinions and advice, from other students and even past media students. After our feedback we got our final idea and we all agreed on it. Therefore I think that our production planning for our idea went well as we only spent 2 days on it in total. Even though we are starting late and have to catch up, I am confident that my group and I have the right ideas and thoughts into making a good media production.

Target Audience

•Target audience is both male and female teenagers from 15- 23 years of age.

•I know that our trailer will definitely appeal to our target audience, both primary and alternate groups of teenagers.

•Our characters will relate to the audience and they can feel a sense of understanding of similar situations and dilemmas.

•Codes and conventions on genres
•The 3 genres that we will focus on and play around with, will be romance, comedy and action.
•We will primarily chose 1 and use the other 2 as sub genres to go into the trailer.

Comedy
•A film whose main purpose is to amuse and induce laughter, comedy deals with the preposterous and absurd aspects of human behaviour with a sense of humour. The comedy is usually meant to make the viewer feel good, projecting the foibles of characters onto the screen for the audience to use as scapegoat for the ridiculousness of life. Always a hugely popular genre, there are many types of screen comedy.
•Comedy in films can also be an effective way of commenting on aspects of society, examining hypocrisies by showing how absurd they are (Dr. Strangelove, for example, makes fun of the arms race and the Cold War by exposing how world leaders act like bullies in a playground sandbox); some comedy, such as the black comedy, seeks to deal with the painful aspects of life in such a way that the humour not readily apparent in such things as Nazism or racism is used to diffuse the horror surrounding it. Even if a comedy is meant to disturb (such as the media satire Man Bites Dog), its primary goal, regardless of happy ending or likable characters, is to look at all things with a sense of humour
•Conventions for comedy; sarcasm, clumsy funny,

Romance
•Modern usage of term "romance" usually refer to the romance novel, which is a subgenre that focuses on the relationship and romantic love between two people; these novels must have an "emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending.
•Despite the popularity of this popular meaning of Romance, other works are still, occasionally, referred to as romances because of their uses of other elements descended from the medieval romance, or from the Romantic movement: larger-than-life heroes and heroines, drama and adventure, marvels that may become fantastic, themes of honour and loyalty, or fairy-tale-like stories and story settings. Shakespeare's later comedies, such as The Tempest or The Winter's Tale are sometimes called his romances.
•Modern works may differentiate from love-story as romance into different genres, such as planetary romance or Ruritanian romance.
•Conventions for romance which we could use; cheesy romance, old fashioned, dominant male with feminine female.

Action
A movie featuring mainly action, in which the plot moves quickly from one dramatic event to another. which typically involves good characters combating evil ones showing character development and love interest are of secondary or no importance.
•Elements of action genre; They almost always have a resourceful hero(ine) struggling against incredible odds, life-threatening circumstances, or an evil villain, and/or trapped or chasing each other in various modes of transportation (bus, auto, ship, train, plane, horseback, on foot, etc.), with victory or resolution attained by the end after strenuous physical feats and violence (fist fights, gunplay). Action films have traditionally been aimed at male audiences, ages 13 to the mid-30s in both American and world-wide markets.
•Over the decades, the core action film genre has spawned numerous subgenres. Many films now combine one or more of these subgenres for deeper subtext, and great opportunity to blow things up.
•Each of the subgenres features the core action elements of the strong hero and the exciting effects, but it also has a more specific focus so that you know going in how it's likely to end.
•Conventions – fast paced, technical fights, quick shots,
